Issue 3 Wins in Ohio

While Ohioans overwhelmingly rejected Issue two, the limits on collective bargaining, they overwhelmingly endorsed issue three, the health care constitutional amendment.

Backers of the health care constitutional amendment approved by Ohio voters say its passage shows Ohioans are fed up with mandates.  Jeff Longstreth says the way he sees it, this vote spells problems for Democrats in 2012.

High court: Ohio healthcare signatures valid

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio Supreme Court has rejected a liberal policy group's lawsuit challenging certification of a fall ballot measure that seeks to exempt the state from parts of the federal health care overhaul.

The court's decision clears the so-called Health Care Freedom Amendment for the Nov. 8 ballot.

Elections Chief says ProgressOhio has No Grounds to Challenge of Federal Health Ballot

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio's elections chief says a liberal policy group has no legal grounds for challenging his certification of a fall ballot measure that seeks to exempt the state from provisions in the federal health care overhaul.

In a response filed Tuesday to ProgressOhio's lawsuit, Secretary of State Jon Husted says it's improper for the group to challenge the signatures submitted to get the measure on the ballot. He questioned the group's contention that extra information was included on petitions.
