2012 Dayton Literary Peace Prize

The 2012 Dayton Literary Peace Prize awards ceremony will be held on Nov 11th at the Schuster Center.  The award honors authors from around the world who are using their world to help promote peace. 

WYSO's Juliet Fromholt spoke with Sharon Rab, founder and co-chair of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize about this year's honorees including non-fiction winner Adam Hochschild for "To End All Wars," fiction winner Andrew Krivak for "The Sojourn," and the Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award winner Tim O'Brien.

Author O'Brian Wins Dayton Peace Prize

Vietnam veteran and author Tim O'Brien has been named the winner of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize's distinguished achievement award.

O'Brien's books and short stories show war from a regular soldier's eyes and also chronicle its long-lasting impacts. He wrote about his Vietnam experience as an Army infantryman in the 1973 memoir: "If I Die in a Combat Zone, Box Me Up and Ship Me Home." Subsequent works have combined fiction with real details from his experience.
