ReInvention is a new storytelling project for Greater Dayton.
Have you ever had to reinvent yourself, because of the big changes in our local economy or in your personal life? Did you lose a job, go back to school, do things you never thought you’d be doing? What is that like?
This summer, an award-winning team of Dayton filmmakers and WYSO staffers, led by Julia Reichert & Steven Bognar, walked Dayton neighborhoods. Throughout the summer the team met people on their porches, in their driveways, walking their dogs, in parks with their families. There are great, funny, surprising and inspiring stories of adversity, resilience and reinvention out there. These stories were gathered from individuals in selected neighborhoods throughout the Miami Valley.
ReInvention Stories can be heard on WYSO every Wednesday during Morning Edition and again each Sunday on WYSO Weekend. Each radio piece has a short film to accompany it, which you can find right here on wyso.org. An online interactive documentary will launch soon.
Reinvention Stories is a collaborative transmedia project from Dayton, Ohio, created by a team of filmmakers, WYSO 91.3, AIR and Zeega as part of Localore, a national public media initiative of AIR, in collaboration with Zeega, with principal funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Additional support for this project comes from the MacArthur Foundation, the Wyncote Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ohio Arts Council, the Yellow Springs Community Foundation, the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund and Wright State University's Center of Excellence in Collaborative Education, Leadership and Innovation in the Arts.
