What's Great in Dayton: October 21 - 27, 2011

Friday and Saturday from 6 - 8:30 p.m is Aullwood’s Enchanted Forest. You can roast marshmallows, meet the black rat snake and box turtles, friendly trail guides will escort visitors along the luminary-lit trail and you will meet costumed forest creatures.

Saturday is Franz Liszt’s 200th birthday and on Saturday and Sunday the Miami Valley Symphony Orchestra will be doing lots of favorites from the Romantic era…including a famous Liszt tune.

Scoot Around Downtown on a Segway The two-hour Segway experience starts at the Dayton Convention Center and you buzz all around downtown including the river. Go to www.daytonsegwaytours.com.

Dayton Ballet is doing Sleepy Hallow and remember Ichabod Crane?….he’s part of the

This weekend the Dayton Opera is performing La Bohme. This is the most performed and the most popular opera in the world. The passion, beauty, and young love come vividly to life in Puccini’s masterpiece. This is an opera to be seen again and again.

Sunday at the Centerville High School are the Duquesne University’s Tamburitzans.  This is all about Eastern European music and dance, from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Poland, Slovakia, and more! This is one terrific program and should not be missed by anyone who has an interest in the folk culture of Eastern Europe. Go to www.southslavicclub.org.
