What's Great in Dayton: January 13 - 19, 2012

This whole weekend is the Muse Machine’s musical The Wizard of OZ.This show has all star kids all over the region with true professional Broadway coaches . They’re doing a superb show at the Victoria.

And at the Schuster there are Three Phantoms in Concert. These guys have all been leading tenors in that famous show and they will be doing all kind of Broadway tunes.  Check it out daytonphilharmonic.org

Fine art and performing arts intersect when The Dayton Art Institute partners with The Human Race Theatre for a special program at the museum on Sunday, at 2:00.  The play is titled RED, which is about the abstract artist Mark Rothko. The DAI Associate Director Jane Black (and I want to be in her fan club) will discuss Rothko's life and work, and the cast will do a brief excerpt from the show. But wait….there’s more….you get to see some of Rothko’s actual art and Jane will talk about those.

And Monday is the Martin Luther King Memorial March and Rally. It begins at 11:00 sharp at the Welcome Stadium. You will march to the downtown Dayton Convention Center and the rally will be held inside.

Finally check out my website which is GreatDayton.com. You can see all the news and sign up for my newsletter.

Gotta go….
