What's Great in Dayton: April 17 - 23, 2015

Garden Station will host EarthFest 2015 this Saturday, 10am - 7pm.

Garden Station'sEarthFest 2015 is leading the way to Go a Shade Greener on Saturday from 10 AM until 7 PM. Bring your whole family and join your neighbors in an Earth Week celebration of a healthier and more sustainable way of living.

If you want to hear about the historic and prehistoric properties at Wright Patt Air Force Base then on Saturday, 10:30am at SunWatch IndianVillage some Air Force cultural specialists will provide an overview of this.

An Evening of Ellington is Saturday, 7:30 pm, at the Dayton Masonic Center. The DCDC will use Ellington's music to create intricate and unexpected partnering for the dancers. If you love jazz and dance, then you will enjoy this special program.

3rd on Third is an eclectic outdoor market. Featuring artisans, antiques & collectibles, handmade goods, up-cycled items, locally produced foods, produce and food trucks, there is something for everyone. Sunday, 1121 East Third Street @ Bates, 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

There will be a reading and book signing by poets and writers in the newly-released anthology Every River on Earth: Writing from Appalachian Ohio. This is Sunday from 2:00-3:00 p.m.at the Main Branch of the Dayton Metro Library. The title comes from a poem by Oakwood poet David Lee Garrison. Free and open to the public.

The Glen Helen Raptor Center is having a free educational program at 2 pm, Sunday. It will highlight adaptations of area birds of prey, with raptors both in display cages and on the glove. You will have an opportunity to learn about local birds of prey, as well as experience personal encounters with the birds.
