Mercy Health, the owner of the Springfield Regional Medical Center has announced a new ER location built in Southwestern Clark County, slated to open in late 2019.

Mercy Health, owner of Springfield Regional Medical Center, recently announced a new $14.5 million dollar emergency room facility will be built in southwestern Clark County. The emergency room will serve residents of Enon, Fairborn, New Carlisle and Yellow Springs.

Adam Groshans, the Chief Operating Officer of Mercy Health Springfield Regional says that although this new ER is close to larger Dayton and Springfield facilities, the existing emergency room at Springfield Regional is overcrowded.

"Last year in 2017 we had about 65,000 ER visits at Springfield Regional.  That’s a very high number and we anticipate doing it again this year.”

Groshans says one of the benefits of building a separate ER will be lower wait times and better patient experiences and that this new faciliy aims to reduce approximately 9,000 visits from the Spingfield Medical ER.
