Miami Valley Levy And Tax Issues Set For May 6 Primary

Most ballot issues and candidates have been confirmed for the May 6 primary election, and as usual, there are a lot of tax and levy questions coming up, although many are renewals, which means they won’t affect current tax rates.

Here’s the list of new or additional levy and tax issues WYSO will be covering running up to May 6, 2014, based on county board of elections' preliminary information:

Montgomery County:

Brookville Local School District (LSD) will be seeking a 5.25-mill additional levy for operating expenses.

Tri-County North LSD is asking for a 1 percent, five-year additional income tax for schools.

The city of Moraine has .50 percent, five-year additional income tax issue on the ballot.

Harrison Township is seeking a 4.0-mill additional levy for operating expenses.

Clark County:

Greenon LSD is seeking an addition 4.96-mill levy to avoid an operating deficit.

Clark-Shawnee LSD is asking for a 6.95-mill additional 10-year levy to avoid an operating deficit.

Greene County:

Greeneview LSD is asking for a .25 percent 30-year income tax increase, which also affects some voters in Clinton and Fayette Counties.

The city of Beavercreek wants a 2.0-mill, 5-year additional levy for road and bridge work.

The Greene County Council on Aging has a levy renewal of 1 mill and an increase of 0.4 mills on the ballot.
