Veterans and military personnel looking for work can visit more than a hundred Kroger grocery stores in Dayton, Cincinnati, and Springfield today. Kroger will take job applications and conduct on-site interviews from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The grocery giant has about 1,100 positions open, and would like to fill as many of them them with vets, current service members and their families. Patty Leesemann, the public affairs manager in Cincinnati, says the employment outreach is part of Kroger’s Honoring Our Heroes (HOH) program.
“Kroger is deeply committed to our veterans and their families, and the best way we feel we can do this is career opportunities for these heroes in our community," she said.
She says the company hired more than 6,000 veterans last year and according to the website, they were able to donate $3.3 million to the USO last year through the HOH program.
Kroger topped the list of U.S. supermarkets for retail sales in 2014, and it could see that trend continue as online shopping service takes hold. Customers can select their groceries through the store’s website and select a time to pick their orders up—orders are delivered to the car.
