Dayton Gay Men's Chorus Hosts Holiday Concert And LGBTQA Youth Outreach

DGMC

Members of the Dayton Gay Men’s Chorus were among Niki Dakota's guests on Excursions this week.

DGMC President, Drew Huggins, and Artistic Director Kathy Clark spoke to her about their upcoming holiday concert and a new project underway that involves LGBTQA youth in the Miami Valley.

Huggins says the chorus is looking for talented LGBTQA authors ages 14 - 24 who want to join them on stage at the Victoria Theatre in June. DGMC is asking for submissions of "original text about what it means to be LGBTQ in America today."

He adds that the top finalists will win cash commissions of $500, $750 or $1000 thanks to a grant from the Ohio Arts Council. The finalists will also have their words set to song by Clark. The composition will be performed at the DGMC Pride concert in June.
