ST. MARYS, Ohio - A Cleveland company has received a 1 million dollar federal grant to help create a facility that would turn animal waste into energy near Grand Lake St Marys.

 U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown announced today (Monday) that Quasar Energy Group will use the U.S. Department of Agriculture grant for a methane digester. The 2.2 million dollar facility would turn manure into methane that can be used for heating and converted into alternative vehicle fuel.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Ohio's largest small business association is throwing its support behind a campaign that is defending the state's contentious new collective bargaining law against a repeal effort on the November ballot.

The law signed by Gov. John Kasich in March bans public employee strikes and restricts collective bargaining abilities for public workers.

The National Federation of Independent Business in Ohio said Monday its membership overwhelmingly supports upholding the law.

On August 22, 1911 the Leonardo Da Vinci masterpiece, the Mona Lisa, was stolen from the Louvre Museum in Paris. It took a couple of years to recover the painting. It had been taken by an Italian nationalist who hoped to repatriate the painting back to Italy.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police say a 24-year-old woman who was a cheerleading coach at a Cincinnati high school has become the seventh person to die from injuries when a stage collapsed at the Indiana State Fair.

Indiana State Police say Meagan Toothman died late Sunday.  She was among those injured when the collapse happened while fans were waiting for the country act Sugarland to perform on Aug. 13.

Police say Toothman died from injuries suffered in the collapse.  Her family says they decided to "allow to her to be at peace" after suffering brain injuries last weekend.

A speedboat race is returning to Ohio's biggest inland lake following a year off because of toxic algae.

The Celina Governor's Cup Regatta is planned for next weekend at Grand Lake St. Marys. The lake between Toledo and Dayton is still plagued by blue-green algae, but warnings have been toned down.

Last summer, the lake was closed to swimming, boating and fishing, and people were warned not to touch the water. This year, visitors are advised that swimming, wading, swallowing the water and touching surface scum are not recommended.
