Call for Artists! Rosewood Arts Center is now looking for artist vendors to participate in the 36th Annual Art on the Commons Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. Located in a scenic park within the vibrant Dayton area, the festival's live music and top notch artists make Art on the Commons a destination for several thousand art lovers every year. Artist applications will be accepted from January 1 - March 31, 2024, with jurying occurring in April 2024. RENI GOWER (Mechanicsville, VA), GEOmatrix: The Perfect Proof VELI KESSLER (Kent, OH), Structural DeviationMarch 11 – April 13
Reni Gower cuts paper to into “perfect” forms (circles, squares, and triangles) to create immersive installations. GEOmatrix will create a space where the viewer experiences luminous and contemplative designs that instill a sense of respite and mindfulness. Using sacred geometry referencing Celtic and Islamic forms, Gower explores how these patterns create connectedness across cultures and people and "shared humanity." Gower is retired faculty from the Painting and Printmaking Department at Virginia Commonwealth University, a curator for Wylie Contemporary Inc and has exhibited her work across the world. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University, a Master of Arts degree from University of Minnesota-Duluth, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Eli Kessler’s sculptures explore the history of entertainment, technology, and materiality. His sculptures are created from repurposed objects, steel, carved wood, vinyl, and other mixed media examine particular artifacts, rituals, and cultural phenomena. Kessler earned a BFA from Tyler School of Art, Temple University and an MFA in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is currently an Assistant Professor in Sculpture and Expanded Media at Kent State University.
Join the Seed of Life artist team at the Dayton Metro Library. We will be in the Opportunity Center at St. Clair continuing the work of creating the 480 square foot mosaic that will be installed in the ground outside of Trolley Stop. The participation process is simple and we provide all the necessary supplies. No need to register or sign up. Volunteers are welcome to float in and out or stay the entire time. The volunteer process consists of gluing pieces of cut up tile into the predesigned shapes. Please join us as we seek community healing through community-based art.
**On March 28 ONLY - we will offer a FREE sound bath healing meditation beginning at 7pm**
Event: Glass Fusing - Series at Rosewood Arts Center

Ages: 16+
Students create multiple fused glass projects over the span of this course. Each week, students focus on a different project while exploring core skills. Projects will be kiln-fired and ready two weeks after class ends. $40-$75 materials fee, depending in the student selected projects, due to instructor at the first class.
A discussion for adults and teens about the Great North American solar eclipse with NASA Solar System Ambassador Kurtz Miller. Attendees will receive a pair of solar eclipse glasses at the conclusion of the program in preparation for the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. Glasses are made available thanks to a generous grant from The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Space Science Institute.
